The federal residential solar tax credit (25D) expired on December 31, 2025. Some companies are still advertising it. We won't — and going solar can still make sense, with lease and PPA options that still carry federal-credit value on tightening 2027 deadlines, state and utility incentives, and rising electric rates doing the math on their own.

Straight answers about going solar
Is the 30% federal solar tax credit still available in 2026?
No. The federal residential clean energy credit (25D) for homeowner-purchased systems expired on December 31, 2025. In 2026, third-party-owned options (solar leases and PPAs) remain the main path to federal-credit savings — the financing company can still claim a commercial credit on systems placed in service by end of 2027 (rules tightened in July 2026) and passes savings through as lower payments. Will solar panels damage my roof?
Not when installed to construction standards. Roof problems from solar almost always trace back to poor flashing and sealing. We're builders first — every install starts with a roof assessment, and if your roof needs work, we tell you before panels go up. Need a new roof? We can do reroof and solar together.
How much does a residential solar system cost in 2026?

How long does installation take?
One to three days on the roof. End to end — design, permits, utility interconnection, inspection — plan on several weeks to a few months depending on your jurisdiction. We manage every step and keep you posted.
Do I need a battery with my solar panels?
Not always. Batteries make the most sense with outages, reduced net-metering credits, or time-of-use rates. Our quotes price solar and storage separately so you can decide on real numbers — and if a battery doesn't pencil out, we'll say so.
